February Board Meeting

The next regular meeting of the Lewis & Clark Conservation District will be February 15, 2018 at 1 p.m.  It will be held at the USDA Service Center Conference room, 790 Coleen Street, Helena MT.  In the event that the Federal Government is shut down, the meeting location will be at the DNRC building in the Russell Conference Room, 1539 11th Ave, Helena MT 59601. There will be a special meeting held at 10 a.m., same date, same location(s) with the Cascade County Conservation District Board of Supervisors.  This will be a collaborative meeting to plan on common issues that the CDs have. The Lewis & Clark Conservation District will be meeting on December 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. for their special budget and planning meeting.  They will convene their regular meeting at 1 p.m.  Both meetings will take place at the USDA Service Center Conference Room, 790 Colleen Street, Helena MT 59601.  All meetings of the Conservation District are open to the public. Local Work Group Meeting

The next Local Work Group planning meeting will be following the Conservation District Board meeting on July 14, 2016.  The meeting should begin around 10 a.m. and will take place in the Dearborn Community Center, Highway 434, outside of Wolf Creek Montana.   The meeting notice can be found here.   The goal of this meeting is review and make adjustments to the priority resource issues within the Local Work Group geographic area and to develop some criteria to assist the NRCS in ranking project applications.   Anyone who is interested in resource concerns in Lewis & Clark County may attend and give feedback.  See the map below for location information.

The Road Less Traveled…

Yesterday, March 30, I attended the Area 6 Administrator's meeting.  We haven't had a meeting in a while--the last agenda I have was 10 years ago!  Anyway, we try to do these now and then to check in with each other and get a feel for the types of projects and issues that other district in our area are dealing with.  It was a good meeting, since it had been so long, there were new faces, and lots of discussion about what's been going on in our districts and other issues from across the state. While I forgot to take a picture of our group, I did take a few snaps of my drive home from Whitehall over Whitetail Road.  It was beautiful, but I was sad to not see…

Annual Plan of Operations

The Board of Supervisors approved the updated Annual Plan of Operations for 2016 at the February 11, 2016 board meeting.  The Annual Plan is tied to the Conservation District's budget and allocates district resources toward priority concerns of the Board of Supervisors.  The current year budget, as well as previous year budgets, shows a planned net loss as a result of some extra programs that the board is running.  Over several years the savings account has accumulated funds and the board has opted to put those funds back out to taxpayers in the form of a Weed Cost Share program and a Cost Share Program for practices such as culvert replacements, riparian and cross fencing and replanting projects.

Board Meeting for February

The next regular board meeting of the Lewis & Clark Conservation District Board of Supervisors will take place February 11, 2016 at 1 pm in the USDA Service Center Conference Room, 790 Colleen Street, Helena MT 59601.   Due to the fact that the January meeting was cancelled, the board will be reviewing and hopefully approving, the 2016 Budget and 2016 Annual Plan of Operations. Once approved, both of those documents will be posted on the website.   The minutes for the December 2015 meeting are available here, pending approval.  The agenda and notice for the meeting in February is here.
